Hello all,
I've been reading a lot on the 243 LBC and think that I need to get me one! I have a few ?s though.
1) What kind of load data do you guys have for the smaller pill? 55s, 58s, 65s? What kind of speed out of a 20"? If possible I'd like to use an extreme powder (8208 or H322 would be great)
2) I read that you use a 6PPC die for these. I've been reloading for about a year but have never done anything more than FL resize standard rounds. This bumping the shoulder back thing is confusing for a noob. Is it just screwing the die down gradually until the case will chamber? Would I need 264 lbc dies to FL size and then neck with a 6PPC?
I read another thread where a guys asked some similar ?s but I'm still confused... After you load a few time wouldn't you need to FL size them? Some step by steps on the loading would help a TON.
Thanks for your time! Brian

Thanks for your time! Brian First off Brian, welcome to the board. It is a great place to discuss all the BHW products and other shooting gear. I am not shooting a 243 LBC but am shooting the 20 LBC. Load data for you on a 243 LBC would be to start with the regular 6 PPC data and start with those numbers and work up SLOWLY. The case has a bit more capacity than the 6 PPC so that will make it GTG. I recommend the Alexandr Arms brass you probably won't have to neck turn them like you would with the Hornady stuff. I don't have any speeds for you but I know that Ritch Johnson has been getting some very nice velocities and some stellar groups out of his. 8208 is really working for him. The shoulders will not have to be moved much maybe a few thousands and that is no different than a normal loading procedure of turning in the die. I recommend getting a Hornady Head Space tool to set your dies up. Necking down from 6.5 to 6 is one stroke. A piece of cake. We have found that the PPC dies size down far enough that we are not having any chambering issues. The case head is pretty stout down on the bottom and not showing any expansion problems for chambering. Step by step instructions: 1. Buy the Lyman #49 and the ABC's of Reloading. Read twice. (Available from AMAZON) 2. Pick up a press and other accessories that will meet your needs to start. Probably a Rock Chucker or a Hornady. I recommend these over the Lee because of that is what I started with and I feel they are, structurally, stronger. 3. Order in a set of Redding Type S Full Length dies in 6 PPC. (They take bushings. You will learn about that in the ABC's). 4. Gather bullets, primers and powder as per the 6 PPC loading data you have in your books or from the supplier sites for bullets/powder. 5. Start loading at a low powder charge . 6. Go shoot, repeat. A bit simplistic but distilled down as far as it goes. GET THE BOOKS!! Return here often and frequently and we will help you to develop some skills and fun times. Greg 6. Go shoot.
