A 6x45 with a well placed shot will kill ANY whitetail walking, it doesnt have the knock down as a 300 Mag if you make a bad shot but if you do your part the 6x45 will be more then enough.

You may laugh but my Dad shot one deer in his lifetime. He used my brothers 300 Ultra @ 40 yds. He couldn't understand why the guy across the road lost a deer shot @ 50 yds because of bad shot.

I've done some reloading over the years. Always trying new stuff in everything form 20 Tactical up to 358 Norma Mag with everything in between and enough fodder to keep about 2 dozen various handguns running in many calibers. AR wise I load for 20 Tactical, 223/556, 6X45, 6 PPC and 25 WSSM. Greg

I had three AR15 in 6.8, one coonass(built in la.) one stag and one built on a CMMG frame. the coonass one has the old type barrel (it's not Sami II)and shoots under a minute of angle at 100 yards. 3/8 to 5/8 inch groups off a rest, The Stag is almost as accruate but still under a minute of angle. under the same conditions. I put a 16inch SS wilson barrel on a CMMG frame and the best I could do with it was maybe a 1 and a 1/2" group at 100 yards. that 's the barrel I pulled and put a 300 blk barrel in its place. That happened yesterday and I haven't got all my stuff together to really try it out yet. I also loaded shot gun shells for my dad in the middle 50's(for skeet and trap) yes, I was in my early teens. I"ve been shooting and reloading every since. I'm getting a little old for my .308s now that's why Im looking at AR's in different calibers. any one need a polytech in .308 or a PTR 91 in .308? Pat

Been reloading since I was 12 or 13 and that was 30 some yrs ago. Have reloaded everything from shotgun to pistol to rifle(mostly bolt guns) up until 5yrs ago when I started reloading for the ar's. As far as the ar's go I reload for a 20pr, a couple of 223, a 6x45 and 243. Still reload for the bolt guns 223,243,25-06. Pistols I reload for are 40,357,44. Kind of gave up on reloading for the shotguns but may have to get back into that with the new dove season that Iowa has just passed.

I load 12 gauge for IPSC and sporting clays normally but picked up a CZ 28 gauge Ringneck SXS a couple of years ago. Those 28 gauge shells are expensive!! I got 17 boxes at an estate sale for $400/box and a NIB MEC 650 for $25.00. I now roll my own 28's and am having great luck on the doves with 7 1/2's. Greg

Yeah I know how many shotgun shells can be gone through in a short time of shooting doves. My brother live down in Az and we try and go down there everother year to see him and do some calling and shoot some dove and quail. One of the first times we went down to see him we hit a waterhole just before sunset. I had close to 75 shells in my pockets and was shooting a citori over/under. I less than 30min we were done and I had 2 shells left in the gun. Man was it a blast. Been looking at getting a mec grabber for the 20ga. Just have not found a reason until now to get one. And I know what you are saying about the 28ga. I have one and use it only once in awhile to shoot some quail and a couple of roosters every year. May have to keep an eye out for some 28ga shells on sale.
