Today is the second day of the muzzle loader deer hunt. I walked out on a point to look over some fields where we had been seeing some deer. After glassing the field and coming up empty, I was making my way back to my Yamaha Rhino. I caught some movement coming out of a draw in front of me. COYOTE and he had already sensed something was wrong. I whistled trying to get him to stop, nothin doing, he was leaving at a high rate of speed . I held about 4 inches ( or there about ) in front of his shoulder and touched it off. I heard the wop sound, and waited for the smoke to clear. I could see him spinning and then go down. I pulled out my range finder and ranged him at 155 yards. Not a bad shot off hand. I hit him a little far back, but muzzle loaders aren't known for there flat trajectory and speed. ;D

... and another one bites the dust!
Great shot, Ritch! ;D
No easy task with the muzzy and a running coyote.

Pretty good shot off hand at 150yd+ especially with a muzzle loader. Have two coyotes out here running around the property in the early mornings... they've tried going after our dog twice already when we let him out in the morning... I have a .50 Beowulf I've set out by the door after the last time they went after our dog... just a matter of time now Fred R.

I have a .50 Beowulf I've set out by the door after the last time they went after our dog... just a matter of time now Fred R. .50 Beowulf, are you trying to vaporize them? Haha. My problem is I'm in city limits, those not-so-little bastards run around here at night and kill everything with impunity since I can't shoot them unless I'm in imminent danger. Pets (they don't care if it's a pit bull or a Maltese), fawns, does, bucks (I've seen it), rabbits, groundhogs, whatever. There's also bobcats that slink around here sometimes. Now they're even more brazen, coming out in the daytime and even taking strolls right down the middle of the road at night, couldn't care less about the street lights. After I had an incident with one that was/is the size of an almost fully-grown golden retriever. The thing was strolling down the sidewalk in front of my house, stopped, stared me down for 15s, turned around, walked another 10 yds, stopped, turned around and stared at me again for 15s, then just walked off. After that, if I'm taking my dog out or going out for a smoke at night, I throw on my shoulder holster with my P229 loaded with HSTs (I'd carry my 5.56/.223 AR on a sling but that's a PITA and just asking for the cops to show up after a "man with a gun" 911 call).

Nice work...
I've got a .50 Beowulf... maybe I'll try using it some time... what a mess that would make for sure.
