It is super quick. The light weight intimidates some shooters when you are really hosing. I've run a mercury recoil reducer at times but found that it just interfered with the balance too much. I also have used this one extensively on pheasants. 9 round is plenty of ammo for a big batch of those roosters. I've whacked two pheasants at 55 yards with it for my longest wing shots.

Greg, that is one sweet looking shooting stick. I have been looking at a benelli for a while now to use on coyotes. I wished I could find one in my price range LOL.. Dang they are expensive!!

Thanks. I got this one back in 80's when they were not so high $$. I think it was about $675 but since I just turn 61 today my memory may be fading!! ;D
The wife shoots an 1100 that has some mods also and she prefers it because of the weight. I will use it at times also as it will handle the 2" shells too. I'll have to get some pics of it up one of these days.

This is probably a stupid question, but what does porting the barrel do for the gun?

This is probably a stupid question, but what does porting the barrel do for the gun? It helps decrease the muzzle rise. When you address six targets from port arms and need to take all six of them down in under three seconds muzzle control is everything. It is the same reason we run compensators on our pistols. Some guys don't believe it makes a difference but if you can get one ported and one non-ported identical guns and shoot them back to back hard it becomes quite evident in that it helps. That is one good thing about IPSC shooters. We have so many different things to play with that trying out new ones costs the price of a few shells and those are ,99% of the time, furnished by the guy who is letting you try his gear!! ;D Greg PS: Far from a stupid question BTW. Every guy/girl on here is trying to learn and sharing is the easiest way to get there. Oh, but don't forget your BS meter along the way.........

That is awesome! I run a 11-87 and have handled a few benelli's..... Fantastic guns! Altho I've had to dump mine a few times and pick up my backup 500 pump.... Autos are fast, but can be troublesome.

Nothing wrong with an 11-87 out there. The wife shots a tricked out 1100 when she plays and I will use hers in some matches. The Benelli has never gone down on me in a match and is like a magic want on multiple target courses using anything from slugs to #8's. It is my favorite for pheasant hunting too!! ;D Greg
