I purchased a barrel about a year and a half ago from Surplus Arms and Ammo. I have always had trouble getting it to group consistently. At first I thought the scope was the problem, but I eliminated that possibility. The barrel will create groupings of 3 shots, then 2, then a flyer (2.5x10 scope) and around 2" at 50yds. I have tried ammo from from 52 grains to match 168 grains. I am not getting the wonderful groups I see posted here. I thought it was me, but I seem to be able to shoot great groups with my other rifles. Could this be a bad crown?

You must mean 68 grain match . I have an 18 inch barrel that loves 77 grain sierras and rl15 . How many shots have you fired trough your barrel ? It took close to a hundred for my groups to tighten up.

On this one I would contact sales at 503-410-5583. An exam of the crown probably won't show much as if it is bad they usually throw them all over. It might be your gas tube hiiting and rubbing on the key.

Good call! It was in fact rubbing the gas key. I made the adjustment and I will shoot it this week. I'm curious to see if that was the problem. Thanks,

Hey Greg, how would the gas tube rubbing on the key cause an accuracy issue?
Thanks, Adam
