Not a lot of discussion in this subforum...I'm considering a 1/8 24" BHW 260 barrel for sniper competitions, and was wondering if anyone could share their recent build experiences?

I did a Savage barel up in the 260 and was quite pleased with how it shot in preperation for a 1000 yard F-Class activity this spring. The 140's work well. If I were looking to shoot a snpier style match I might opt for the 123 Noslers as the BC is high and you can push the speeds up to lower TOF. Greg

Yeah, the trend sure is toward the 123 pills for 6.5mm's.

I guess I'll be able to respond to my own thread in a few months because I ordered a 24" 260 barrel to finish a build on a Mega Maten receiver set.

I know several who shoot a .260 semi and have tried the heavier bullets with little success. Save yourself some $$ and stay in the 120 area. Goodluck!!

The heaviest I'd consider in the 243LBC would be around 107. In my 264LBC I would shoot the 123 Noslers. Greg

I posted a bit over a year ago in the twist rate thread. Just after posting, I 'flunked retirement' and went back to work - got too busy to complete my build. I'm finally seeing a little daylight. This thread has a comment from Dino's that may be useful to me. I've been thinking exclusively in the 140-class.
My shooting buddy is getting honest MOA groups at 300-600 with his box-stock DPMS upper with a 24" 260REM bull-barrel upper. That has an 8.5" twist.
But I could go with the lighter bullet, and maybe get better performance. I know that in mag-length cartridges behind the 140-class bullets, 4350 gives a pretty decent range of loads with low SDs, so with luck I can find velocity at a barrel null.
I also read that BHW will make barrels in an 8" twist?

If you go to the sales site you can always use a drop down menu to find available twists etc. The 260 is offered in a 1:8 (I happen to own a Savage barrel in that twist so I know that one is not Unicorn dust!! Keep us posted and ask away if there is anything we can help you with. Greg
