I have looked but did not find a comparison to the 264lbc. From what I can tell the 6x68 has a shorter range and may be similar to the 204 ruger in range with a heavier bullet am I correct in my thinking

I have looked but did not find a comparison to the 264lbc. From what I can tell the 6x68 has a shorter range and may be similar to the 204 ruger in range with a heavier bullet am I correct in my thinking For what use? Targets or animals? The 646 yard antelope shot with a 6X6.8 seemed to die well. Remeber velocity and BC are one thing but bullet design and energy are another. The 6X6.8 will always excell on deer size animals and on PD's I would say it is based on skill to a degree. It is a varmint big game cartridge. When you start loading up a 204/20 Practical with 55 grain bullets you lose a geat deal in speed. A 55 20 caliber out of a 204 might get you 3400-3500 and will not be designed to whack a big animal. An 87 VMAX in the 6 MM will get you around 3100. Think of the enerrgy difference. At 500 the 20 is 637. The 6 MM is 749. The BC's on the bullets are very close and there in lies the push to the big boy. Did I tell you I love actual range chronograph results paired with the JBM calculator. The what if's get easier and easier. Greg

Are you saying the 6x68 will Excell over the 264lbc too on deer sized animals. 646 yards is impressive and while I don't have either barrel yet the 264lbc is on order with BHW I was interested on a comparison of the 264lbc to the 6x68 in range and energy info is hard to find and even on the hornady factory ammo they list data at 1612 fps 709 ft lbs at 500 yards which seems light to me what kind of data are you getting on both cartridges. Thanks Greg for the help

My earlier post was based on your 204 reference. The other comparison is easily gleaned from the boards here.
The 264 will throw heavier bullets but not as fast obviously. The range will go to the bigger one way out yonder. There's bunches of speeds on the 6X6.8 here. Crunch away. The BHW barrels will yield a bit more velocity than the factory 6.5.
