I'm sure there are other "nuts" out there who wouldn't mind shooting cast bullets in their 264 LBC, so I started that project today. It's too darn hot (96.1F, 45%, and rising at 2PM) to do much more than "proof of concept" and "function test". All I have to do is step out the door, squeeze the trigger, and pick up the case, but that's enough for me!
I had some assorted 7.62x39 waiting to be fire formed, so that's what I used. All were primed with CCI 200; only tried AA2015 under the Lyman 266469 cast (140.7gr lubed w/gas check) from WW (cast this past WINTER!). Bullet were seated to just cover the top grease groove (2.055" +/-). I started at 12gr, worked up to 16.5 (with a magazine in place). 16.0gr gives "sometimes" hold open, but good feeding from the magazine; SOUNDS to be sub-sonic. 16.5gr gives hold open and feeding; sounds to be super-sonic.
We're supposed to see a cold front on Friday ("only" mid 80), so I'll try run the 16.5gr load over the chronograph and put them on paper.
Bottom line for today: Very possible to shoot cast in a BHW barrel, and I've seen NO leading.

Only 88F/47%, so did some more testing. 18.3gr AA2015, 7.62x39 mixed brass, CCI 200, 2.055 OAL, gives AVG 1621fps/SD 23, 1" @ 25 yards for 5 shots. There was no leading in the bore or bolt. The load testing will continue, but this is a good small game load out to 50 yards and has a whole lot more "punch" than a 22LR.
