I am in search of a muzzle device for a .223 bull barrel. Anyone have any ideas. I know that JP makes one that tapers to .925 just wondering if any other manufacturers make anything that tapers to something like that. .750 is just too small and looks weird

This isn't much help but, I would suggest using a .936 thread protector. The type of muzzle device your looking for really doesn't do anything except make your barrel 2" longer. With a 5.56 and a bull barrel even a brake would only make it noisier. There are no muzzle devices that aid in increasing performance, only increasing length and decreasing your wallet.

That is and option and I might have to go that route. I have been looking at the aac setups. I am not wanting a break for the performance factor. I will admit most of it is the cool factor with some flash suppressor action. Down the road a can is going to be on the rig as well and I do want the ability to remove from time to time. I went with the 18" just for the can because twenty inches plus a can is a lot to balance on a odd shooting platform in short to mid range precision tactical shooting matches

If you're looking for something that doesn't look so small as to be out of place, and you're doing it for looks, it might be hard to beat the muzzle device that Falkor (formerly known as SI-Defense) makes. They call it the "Blast Cap" They don't narrow at the back end at all. I don't see it listed in their online ship, but last summer they announced that the device will be available as a separate accessory. You'd have to call them to ask about availability. I have seen it in the blue anodized color that they ship on their "Blitz" rifle, as well as what looks like polished aluminum and subdued flat black.
Here's a view of the stylish cap on the front end of the Blitz rifle.
Here's a view of the back end, along with the concept drawings during development of it. You can see that it doesn't taper down at all.

Well the yankee hill thread protector was a bust. They are a junk company that build junk parts. My barrel is now ruined. I have been able to hand thread two other muzzle devices with zero effort so I say the barrel was fine. I went to thread the YHM peice of junk and the part thread half way with no effort. It started to have effort so I went to back it off. Towards the end the protector decided it wanted to no long protect the threads a and completely ruin the last two threads. The company that sold the part said they would refund the price of the part but that the barrel would have to be shortened.

Not good. The only YHM stuff I have used are the mini-riser blocks.

Don't hate because it is not a BHW barrel ( I do love their stuff and actually own 2 but I wanted the intermediate length gas in a very heavy profile) It is a rainier arms rock creek blank limited run. I called rainier and they were willing to replace the barrel which is awesome. The downside is they will have to order one from the manufacturer so 6-8 weeks. I should have ordered a 20" BHW.

Cut the thread off and recrown with 11deg. Target crown. You can get one from ptg. And it's easy enough to do. And if you don't like...sell it then buy a bhw...by the way this is last day for 20% off. Hurry

I am returning the barrel for a replacement. I will have to wait so I am ordering a BHW 20" 1-7 twist bully. When I get the replacement in 6-8 months from the other manufacturer I will probably sell it and get more out of it since it would be brand new.
