Thinking about building an American 30. I am wondering what kind of velocities owners of 20 inch barrels are getting with various grain bullets. Specifically the 110, 125, 130 and 150 grain bullets. The last 30 caliber I owned was a Winchester model 94 30-30. I still could kick myself in the ass for selling that gun!!! I currently don't own a 30 cal rifle. I have been looking at the 300 black out, but I think the supersonic performance is about the same as a 30-30. The maximum velocity I have seen posted so far with the 125g bullets is around 2700fps. Just wondering if anybody has gotten higher velocities than what has been posted so far. Also, what twist rate is everybody using? The rifle will mainly be used to hunt hogs and deer at fairly close ranges. Any information that anyone could provide on this caliber would be appreciated.
Thanks Andrew

You will get velocities a few hundred fps faster with the American 30 over the blackout. I have exceeded 2600 with 125 gr bullets out of an 18" barrel and my most accurate 125gr load is about 2525fps. It was an excellent performer on whitetail last season for us. Looking forward to more results this season.
