Hello, I'm ready to start the break in process on my AR15 barrel. It's a 14.5", 1/8 twist, 5.56 (.223) and would like to know of any recommended manufacturer's and grains to successfully complete this step.
Thank you. Manny

Manny I'd shoot the cheapest 55 grain stuff I could find from Rem FC or Winchester. No steel case. Greg

Greg, What non-copper removing solvent do you use/recommend (frog lube, hoppes, breakthrough, etc) to clean your barrels? Also, do you prefer the rod and patches or Bore Snake?
Thank you!

Plain old Hoppes if I break them in at all. After that Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner. I never use bore snakes. Greg

OP - thank you for asking the question. I read so many things. Experience tells me some of the methods do more damage than help. I'm using Hoppe's and if I do get more copper fouling I used Sweets.
I have some Butches Bore Cleaner but didn't use it yet. I need to get the Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner for the AR. Seems like an easier option.

I have used a lot of the Butches in the past. The GFBC works very well. Never needed more than three treatments and that was on a nasty 17.
