I'm thinking of building one of these two for my dedicated big game rifl. Now what is the difference between the two rounds? Also would they be big enough for Elk and moose?

The only difference in reality is the chamber. Certainly usable on elk in the hands of a competent shooter. I suspect moose would be too but it, for me, would have to be a VERY close moose. Greg

I've heard of both elk and moose taken with the Grendel, and it's doable, but most of the people who have done it are just pulling off a publicity stunt. The Grendel is a fine cartridge and certainly one of the best you can fit in an AR but you've been misled if you think it's a real big game cartridge.

While it probably could kill it. It would hardly be called a big game cartridge.

MY feeling is that it is an excellent antelope/deer cartridge. If I ever get a chance to go after a big elk I suspect it will be with a 358 Norma Magnum or a 300 Win.
Most of of these cow elk here aren't overly large and a cow only tag would not be a bad choice for it. The ranges here in AZ are not extremely long. I have a friend that has shot 8 at less than 75 yards and only one at 175.
