I saw on 6.5 Grendell that 120gr FMJ and HP-BT are recalled. I pulled mine down and there was 29gr of ball powder +/-0.1 grain.
I am saving the bullets for my 6.5 Swede or reload into known cases and powder.

I am saving the bullets for my 6.5 Swede or reload into known cases and powder. They are recalling all 6.5 ammunition and brass from 2015 onwards. It looks like the brass has been ovrr-annealed. They are saying it's an issue with variations in chamber specs. That is pure unadulterated horse hockey. Chambers just didn't change overnight. In the ammunition area whether it is factory or reloads everyone blames the barrels. I know of a couple blown up AR10's. The guys were shooting handloads and destroyed the uppers. To a man they blamed the barrels not their own personal incompetence. Greg

Bummer! I have 200 rounds that I was going to use for dialing in the barrel/upper that I built last year... and still haven't shot. Guess it's good to have 3.5 year old son and a wife with ADHD to pull me 20 ways to Sunday (the silver lining in this case, I guess). Well, I think it's time to call or send an email to PPU... Here's a link to the recall notice page, if anyone needs it: www.ppu-usa.com/news/Thanks for sharing the info!

You are welcome.. I was hoping to test mine, didn't even shoot one. This batch is date stamped 1501 on the box. I guess the brass is soft and as Greg pointed out, part of the 2015 and later.
Verified date code 2015. Pulled all down and recycle brass. Oh well . .

Just an FYI - I received a response via email from the US importer of PRVI PPG products regarding the recall of the Grendel ammo. I was instructed to ship them the ammo and/or brass and provide a receipt for the cost of shipping for reimbursement. They will replace the Grendel ammo with another available ammo product, or refund the cost of the ammo if you can provide a receipt. They have discontinued their Grendel ammo products completely. Kind of a bummer... it was an affordable product that would provide some brass for reloading.

Thank you for the update. Sad that a source of brass is gone. I guess I should get some Norma.
I stopped at a Cabelas and all of the 6.5 Grendel was gone from the shelf and the location had the price/sku removed like it was never there.

They are coming out with a Small Primer 6.5 load. Don't consider this a loss consider it an upgrade. Greg

Thank you Greg. That's good news. I hope the brass holds up better with the small primer.

Update: I finally got my 264 LBC build to the range for proofing run. It performed very well. I didn't have time to shoot for groups. I used the little time I had to sight it in, along with 3 other rifles sporting swapped or new optics... this all done in the chaos of visiting family for Thanksgiving. That noted, I decided to give the PRVI Grendel ammo a go, despite the recall, for the following reasons: 1) Shipping ammo via UPS or FedEx in my area has been nothing but a pain in the tailpipe. I couldn't get a clear answer regarding drop off locations that accept hazardous goods for either, despite guidance directly from their websites. So the package ended up sitting in my "man space" after multiple trips to various shipping locations in the area... since September. 2) I did a good bit of internet sleuthing to get the skinny on why the ammo was recalled. Seems many, many users had no issues with the recalled ammo. And most discussions pointed the finger at a few barrels with bad chamber specs or using the deep face bolt with an LBC chamber. I found one set of photos that showed belting just above the case head and rim, which I suspect could be caused by the latter scenario. But I found no reports of catastrophic failures, injuries or the like. 3) I trust in the quality of BHW to produce a properly-spec'd product. And my bolt came from a known good-source. And so I decided to tempt fate... It all worked out fine. The ammo shot decently (I did have one 3-shot cloverleaf among the scatter of shoot-and-adjust groups). The cases cycled properly, BTE adjustable gas block was dialed in from the start, and no signs of stress on the brass after firing. Nada. 20 rounds launched. 20 rounds successful. So I'm going to burn up the residual ammo (eventually) and decide what to do with the brass - keep it or ship it all back under recall for replacement (probably swapped for 6.5 Swede). Brass won't be a headache to ship. And I will close by saying my 264 LBC upper is a pleasure to shoot! (And so was my 6x6.8 SPC! Tack driver!!!).

Sounds like a great shakedown. Keep the information coming a sit goes.
The belt on a fired case comes from excessive head space or the case being unsupported. The bolt can't open early or you'll be eating a BCG.
Open up your LBC and look at the chamfer cut on the breach, combine that with a head space problem and even with good brass you'll get the belt.
