Ok I have worked up loads with three different bullets now. One was 27g 8208 cci 450with Berger 87 vlds at 2780 the other is 28.4 8208 rem 7 1/2 primers hornady 87 g hpbt at 2950, Speer 85g spbt with rem 7 1/2 28.4 8208 at 2890. Now they all shot great at 100 yards and 200 the hornadys didn't shoot nearly as good at 300 as the Bergers haven't had the speers out further yet. Now why won't the Bergers or the speers give closer to the same velocities as the hornadys? The hornadys definitely shoot flatter but didn't group as good further out. How to choose a load? This is for long range shooting and coyote hunting. N

You underloaded the Bergers and that is part of it and then the primer change one the two 87's ca be an issue. Accuracy is king on this. What barrel length? Also a new powder might be worth a try. Don't get locked into XXX when YYY may be offer something in speed and/or accuracy. Greg

I worked that load up with the Bergers and 27g was what shot the best I went up to 28-28.5 if I remeber right. It's a 22" barrel and what other powder would you recomend to try for the Bergers or the speers for more speed? I have tried rem and cci primers with the hornadys and never got anything to change with the accuracy at 200 plus, they shoot great at 100 yards but at and after 200 they open up more then the Speer and Bergers.

What about cfe 223? I actually have all 3 of them powders and also have tac would that help with velocity? I have shot several with CFE 223 and gotten good results in the speed department. 30.2 grains of CFE with an 87 Hornady at 3078 in a 24" tube TAC was 29,5 grains with the 87 at 3050 in the 24" gun. MY GUN, MY FINGERS AND MY EYES. DOWNLOAD FROM THAT AND GO UP IF YOU CHOOSE. YMMV Greg
