JP really saved my bacon this time. My Mossberg MVP .223 that I was using as a match rifle for long range precision had seen quite a number of thousands of rounds under rapid fire and high ambient temps with really hot loads and had started to group really inconsistently and throw wild velocity variations. Heck the leade had gotten nearly a half inch long and my loaded ammo was getting ridiculously long to touch the lands. Soon there'll be just the boat tail in the neck. Shooting from 200-1000yrds with a .223 means consistency or losing are the available options. Time for a new pipe.
6 months or so of nagging JP and begging worked out and they cut me a replacement which was not only perfect and an upgrade but arrived a month before I expected it to. I have 3 weeks now to build up test loads and refine one or two for match use. I can't thank JP and BHW/CRA enough. Yes my reloading bench is a bit of a mess, yes it's often like that. Don't judge. I'm changing over from 7BR to .223 this weekend so it's a little messy.
26", medium heavy, threaded 1/2x28, 5.56x45mm chamber, 7 twist.
Difference from factory: No fluting, added muzzle threads, added 2" length, increased twist rate from 9 to 7, polygonal rifling.
It's one of the few MVP's to have a new barrel and the ONLY one I know of that's going to be sporting a drop-in barrel. I'm pretty sure it's the only one since JP turned me down a few times and every other company I've called has said not, "Not right now." like JP had but had instead said, "No. We're not going to." Only JP and CRA/BHW had the customer service to hook a brutha' up.
This is my 5th BHW barrel for a lot of reasons. Apart from being such helpful folks, their barrels are nasty accurate and easy as pie to load for.
Great job guys, I really appreciate it. I wonder though if y'all couldn't drop some morale patches and stickers on your site for purchase. I'd like to have representation for all the aftermarket stuff on my match rifles. Keeps people reading my jacket and kit instead of asking me in the middle of a stage .
