I shoot a Mossberg MVP in long range competition. Right now is has a BHW barrel on it in .223 but with the recent introduction of the .22Nosler it looks like I now have another option. My rifle is already a switch barrel ready by virtue of a barrel nut. I'm thinking neck up the Nosler to 6mm. I'd like to hear from the Pro-Staff about the idea. It'd be really nice to be able to use the same rifle for unlimited and tactical classes with a quick barrel change. My coach shoots a 6XC that we're loading only up to 2860fps with 115DTAC's. It'd be really cool to be able to get up to or near that velocity in a 26" barrel so we can share ballistics data. 6-6.8 and 22-6.8 are basically already neck downs of 6.8SPC from what I can see. The big difference from what I can see with the new .22Nosler case is the rebated rim that's the same diameter as a .223 case head. I need to stick to a common bolt face and now it looks like I can possibly neck up a .22Nosler case to .243 ID and get the 6-6.8 on a .223 face. Am I completely off base? I'm not sure how different the chambers are but it looks like case forming would be easier coming up from .22Nosler to 6-6.8, ala 6x45. Does BHW have some info for me? If this is something that'll work I'll be ordering the barrel right away. Also big thanks to BHW for the latest barrel. It's great as always.
