Ok I'm thinking of building nite coyote hunting rig I was thinking maybe a 20 prac or a 20x6.8. Now with the 20x6.8 what kind of velocity could I get with like 55g bullets out of eithor calipers In a 24" tube? It can be windy at times so I was thinking of using a heavier bullet. I was thinking a 24" barrel standard weight it will be surpressed. Hopefully GLshooter and maybe Ritch will reply on this for me. This upper would have a night vision on top of it. Would I have to neck turn the brass on eithor calipers? I was thinking the larger case would push the heavier bullets a little better. What's your thoughts on this?

The 20 Practical is a 204 Ruger for all intent and purposes. The 20X6.8 is about 150 FPS faster. It, unlike the 20 P, should be neck turned. It is better in a bolt gun though not the AR platform for MAX performance. The bigger case at same same pressures will always be faster but the 20 P runs at higher pressure than the 20X6.8 so it does make up some of the disparity. The P does best up to 40 grains and the other will handle up to the 55 Bergers. 3350 on the 55's in a 20X6.8 but you need a 1:9 twist for it in many set ups. Most 20's are 1:10 BTW. Greg

Ok now what would I get for velocity in the 20 prac with say the 35g bergers and how far would you use that type for coyotes? On a good clear night with snow we can see 300 yards hear. I'm thinking eithor a 20 prac or maybe 17-223. What's the 17 predator? Isn't it a 223 case necked down? Anyways I'm just looking for a good super flat shooting caliper for coyotes used be used mostly at nite the shots are generally 300 to in your lap. For some reason I have a 20 cal and 17 cal inch.
