As the title states, what's your preferred powder for the longer/heavier bullets? (80-100gr)

RL15, 8208 and H4895 seem to do well.

I've had some decent results with TAC also. It seems all those around that area do pretty well. Case volume fill is often a deciding factor in some powder choices.

So far I have some 80 & 95gr Nosler BT's and some Hornady ELD-X 103gr. (which I realize will probably be mostly worthless for this cartridge, they are LONG) Probably going to pick up some 95gr SMK/TMK's to try, and then maybe some 95gr VLD's if my rifle doesn't like either of the former. I mostly built this rifle to punch paper, to improve my long range skills. The .25x6.8 build I'm tailoring for hunting.

I've got some 95gr TMK's in hand now and looking for a place to begin with 8208 XBR. Hodgdon data states 24 grains is starting load for 6mmBR with a 100gr bullet. Think that would be a safe starting point with the 95gr TMK, or would you start lower?

Greg Low-to-Mid 28 grains of 8208 XBR Max Load?

I've gone higher but tread lightly. It's all on you when it comes to wildcats.

I just wanted to verify what you were saying...
If I can expect to reach Max Load somewhere around 28 grains (or slightly higher) of 8208 XBR, I think 4 full grains under that may be a bit too conservative a starting point.
Of all the currently published Hodgdon 6mmBR loads for 8208 XBR with bullets 80gr or heavier (5), the largest gap between Min and Max Load is 3.4 grains. 4 of the 5 have a gap <= 3 grains.
Based on that, I think I can assume a good starting point is 25 grains.

Based on that, I think I can assume a good starting point is 25 grains. MIN/MAX in many books is 10% below the MAX. Personally I would start less than 26.5 and I would work toward 28.5 or thereabouts. These poly barrels like to get shot hard and while they will often group lower I don't go that route. Not having any background guys shooting it I would agree with you but running 28 is easy on these barrels in most instances. You MUST know distance to lands and it is IMPERATIVE that you know you aren't jamming them 0.070 or some such craziness. Just blindly loading to 2.260 will get you in a heap of trouble on many wildcats. On my chambers I'm loading 2.300 routinely but yours may vary based on what I'm hearing across the country lately on this chambering. Greg
