I have finished my first AR in 264 LBC and its shooting the Hornady Black very well. I purchased the Redding full length type S die and need to know what size bushing to get. I also picked up another barrel on the sale. A 264 type 2. Are the chambers the same on these two barrels? Can I use the same bushing?

The 264 LBC chamber is 0.010 deeper using a 7.62X39 0.125 deep bolt, TYPE 1, than the Type 2 you have using a 6.5 Grendel bolt 0.136 deep. Same ammunition and same dies and same bushings, different bolt. All CURRENT 264 LBC barrels are TYPE 1. Bushing size is easy. Take a loaded round and measure the neck with the bullet in place. Subtract 0.002 to 0.003 and that is the size. Lapua brass is thicker than the Hornady and I use a 288 on mine. Greg

Great, I'll measure the loaded round. I saw other posts stating the 288 bushing. As to the sale barrel, it was part of the liquidation of in stock barrels left over from various jobs BHW has done. This one I just bought was part of a group of 264 LBC type 2 barrels. A 18" 1x9 standard profile mid gas machine finish target crown. I have a 6.5 Grendel bolt for it. I've noticed a little ding in the neck of the case where it hits something when being ejected. How are you straightening that out?

Just to be clear, I have 2 BHW barrels, one is the 264 LBC type 1 useing the 762x39 bolt and the other is the 264 LBC type 2 using the 6.5 Grendel bolt. I just got a wild hair and wanted to see what if any difference there was between the two. The bolts and carriers are Young Manufacturing.

Most will iron out as you use the bushing. Make sure to chamfer the case mouths in and out. I think you'll find no difference in performance. Even shooting the true Grendel chamber, SAAMI, from BHW I see no difference down range. The ding can be avoided by putting a 5/8" square piece of VELCRO on your shell deflector. All of mine are don that way and it wil help about 95% of that dinging. All my uppers are VELCRO'd before they get shot. Greg
