I have an AR with a bhw 20" 264 LBC barrel. I'm about to start reloading for it. I've not reloaded for an AR or any semi auto rifle before. Am I supposed to full length size the cases? Do I seat bullet to published MOAL? I know the cartridge has to fit in the magazine so that limits the length of the cartridge. On bolt action rifle I loaded most bullets almost touching the lands and also done a lot of neck sizing. Also do you recommend using a crimping die? Thanks for any advice.

Never neck size. Bump the shoulders about 0.003. Use ASC magazines for longest possible seating. Adjust depth to best accuracy that will be longer than 2.260 in many cases. We never crimp as we use bushing dies exclusively. We also never use expander balls. These barrels like them hot up around max book load levels. Greg

Thanks for the reply. Just what I needed to know. I was afraid no one was going to answer me. What dies do you use?

Thanks for the reply. Just what I needed to know. I was afraid no one was going to answer me. What dies do you use? Ritch and I use Redding Type S Full Length dies. Redding part # 77478. They use bushings. We use bushings made by Wilson. For the 264 a choice based on desired neck tension and brass type is covered by 285,286 or 297. We use the Hornady generic seaters. WE use the Reddings on all the LBC and 6.8 variants. That way all we do is adjust for shoulder bump with the die and just swap bushings. They are used pretty exclusively when we are forming up new brass for the wildcats. Greg
