Well after almost a year long build, too many projects, i finally finished my 300 blk SBR. 10.5 in c5 gas. I added a Maxim pdw stock with a captured spring kit from JP rifles, m16 bolt carrier. So needless to say, alot going on concerning gas and cycling weight. I don't have a suppressor yet. That will be the majority of what this rifle sees in the future, but I want to tune to shoot whatever mag is at my fingertips suppressed or not, If I can. So unsuppressed, I have shot a few boxes of S&B 208gr subs and it cycled fine, I tried some hornady black ballistic tip subs 208gr i think, and it ejects, but wont load next round. So, undergassed , right. I know if a can is added, that will change for the better, but again, I would like to correct if I can. Being that the c5 gas system is designed to switch from subs to supers My thought is to lighten the reciprocating mass a bit. Not so much as a super light low mass bcg, but maybe an ar15 carrier (-1 oz or so?) and change the tungsten weight on the jp system to steal (another 1 oz.). Any thoughts would be welcome. Does anyone know the weight difference from a M16 carrier to a ar15 carrier? Am I approaching this correctly? Does anyone know if the BHW c5 gas block is proprietary? Can i use an adjustable block? I should of but didn't measure. Is a couple ounces gonna make this carrier really slam with super in a suppressor? Thanks, Randy

Yes it's proprietary. You might be able to convert it to adjustable. Look at Brownells for a weight difference. Young makes several different ones. An ounce or two off shouldn't beat the gun up.
