Hello: It is the staffs intent to offer the 45 caliber barrels in both sizes .452 and .458, chambered accordingly for the .452 and .458, however, our customers can allways select which barrel size they wish and the chambering of their choice. Happy Hunting

I've been waiting over a year to build a duplicate of this rifle with no source for a barrell. I know who's rifle it is but i don't have the exact specs. I'm guessing a fluted .936 stainless barrell aproximately 10.5 to 12.5 inches long with pistol gas. I'd happily place a deposit if you think you might be able to supply it in the next 6 months. -DR

Spikes lower and upper it seems. Nickel Boron Carrier Magpul CTR stock and moe grip. Spikes tactical BAR rail Could be the AA SBR beowolf barrel judging by the fluting and finish but is hard to say. Although I like straight cases for this, the 458 is a better choice IMO. (bullet department) JP BC style brake. Magpul Foregrip Magpul Mbus Sights
That thing with any of the thumpers is going to make some bad ass holes.

Master Yoda,
I'm hoping you mean you will be producing the proper bore diameter and chamber for each cartridge in varying barrel lengths and contours.
I agree with BigBore about the threaded muzzle. I'm kind of old school, a meat and potatoes sort of guy. An A2 flash hider is more than enough for me. Keep it short and light if it is deemed necessary. Neither of these cartridges really need a brake. Look at the prices of some of these exotic threaded muzzle devices for the .45 calibers. 11/16-24 on the Bushmasters and 5/8-32 on the SOCOM. My vote as well would be for a 5/8-24 so I could use an AR10 barrel A2 flash hider opened up to match the bore.
I know why they are thread specific to the calibers. Don't want to see anybody get hurt and see BHW held liable. I may order mine with a recessed crown if available.
In any case, let the work begin. And, please consider a headspaced bolt with the barrel.

Thank you so much for deciding to making the .458 SOCOM! Any guess as to when we can start ordering?

well, its been close to a month now, any reports or pictures? Patience my friend, patience!! AFAIK none have been sent out to the field for testing yet but it will happen. I'm more of a light fast bullet guy but I have been known to throw some big lead down range given the chance. I wouldn't mind a thumper to round out my tiny batch of AR's. Greg

I'd love a 14.5 Socom with a permanent A2 styled FH. Or if you offer muzzle devices separately w/ 5/8-24 thread, I need an FH for my 18" bull.
A 458 Socom chamber gauge made from a barrel stub like the one formerly offered by Marty and occasionally offered by SBR would be a great help for reloaders too.

Well over a month and no news. Patience? Can't spell it.
While I'd like to try a BHW barrel, it looks like the first barrel maker to have it in stock will get my money.
458 SOCOM or 450 Bushmaster I'm so confused. Just make it happen. Give me a reason to buy BHW!

Give me a reason to buy BHW! On the SOCOM I have been looking and have found noone that sells just the barrel. Same with the 450. I'm sure that somewhere out there they exist but no source that I can find. Have you found any other one that has them? A reason to wait? I would guess that my faith in BHW for a quality end product would come to the forefront. I know that Carl and the BHW crew will not put a product out for the public unless it has proven to perform. Sometimes the wait seems forever when any of us read about future products. At least we have gotten through MOST of the post election panics and some supply lines are opening up. Give 'em a chance here and let a couple of the Pro Staff shoot them and then the fun will begin once they get the stamp of approval. Greg

The bolts are even harder to find for these two I hope Carl decides to start building them So far I have not been able to find a good source on bolts.

The .458 SOCOM does NOT need special magazines. I use CProducts and D&H green follower magazines without any problems. I do grind a half moon on the front side for those big Rem 405 grain Flatnose bullets, but even that is not needed in most SOCOM ARs.

I know of at least one major supplier selling the .450 Bushmaster barrels with a bolt. There are .50 Beowulf barrel/bolt combos around too. By available selection of bullet, the .458 SOCOM is the best of the big bore ar rounds out there, but its the hardest to get the barrel for. I'm glad that Rock River is making .458 rifles and helping to keep this wonderful round alive, but I can't say that I have faith in their quality. I am really looking to having a Black Hole .458 (or two three more)!
