Head thrust? Is that like the problem with 17 hmr in a semi auto? It would basically cycle the action too fast. Did you guys ever try it in a bolt gun to see what the potential is? What is the advantage the one over the other? Do you have any preference?

What is the advantage the one over the other? Do you have any preference? Head thrusys. Take the PSI divide by the area of the case head and you get your numbers. Bigger heads mean more bolt thrust limiting your available pressure. Thta is why you don't see 62,000 PSI 308 size bolt cartidges. Never chambered a 20 LBC in a bolt gun here but it has been done. Referrnce The Woodchuck Den. Bolt guns will let you run more powders and are stronger than an auto. Also it takes more of a screw up to make a bolt gun grenade itself. Greg
