Did you prep the stock with anything special before rustoleum? Other than wipe down to remove oil and grease? Looks nice BTW!

Tnx campguy! Easy enough to touch up, and as some say, "adds character". Looks nice, shoots great :-)

I found a set of lightweight receivers locally for a great price, so I decided to make a lightweight hunting rifle. My barrel just showed up today, will assemble tomorrow, sight in as soon as my ammo order shows up! Specs: Upper- Battle Arms Development receiver set Whiskey Arms carrier Tactical Ammo bolt V7 firing pin generic charging handle, generic melonited gas tube Aero Precision mount Leupold VXR 2-7x33 scope AGL handguard SLR titanium adjustable gas block BHW .264LBC barrel 1-8 twist with honeycomb fluting and black shot peened V7 titanium flash hider Lower- Geissele SSA-E trigger generic carbine buffer spring and buffer with weights removed B5 stock and pistol grip V7 castle nut V7 lower parts as much as possible Barrel Mocked up Weight except for the hand guard set screws, there is still room to get it down to 6lbs or even less

Thank you, I will. I first have the undesirable (yeah right) task of shooting the factory stuff up so I can start reloading. I had it out today chasing bunnies with the 16yo nephew. First shot ever hunting with it drops one as the SST passed right through the heart at 80 yards. This thing can sure shoot. Very happy with it! I can't wait to try some lighter bullets through it for this.

How do you like the 22" standard profile barrel? I'm trying to decide between 20 & 22" barrels. Standard or light profile. I'm building a hunting rifle but I don't want to need a wheel barrow to haul it to the stand. I also don't want less than a 20" barrel.

For hunting deer from the stand I would go with the light profile. I also believe that the 20" would be plenty of length for you and a tad handier. I prefer speed so usually go with the slightly longer ones but the cartridge shines in a 20" without question. Greg

Old school thought is that long heavy barrels are more accurate. I've not been able to prove that to myself.

Sqaut short tubes have lees harmonic whip involved. Benchrest barrels are never long. Greg
