Okay im building a run and gun ar. Weight is just about everythong in 3 gun. What are the weights of the 18"barrels per profile. I know fluting reduces weight too but that is negligable right now. Also can the barrels be cut down and the gas ports be opened up. An 18" with a good comp tends to be pretty long and a 16" mid has too much recoil for that fast follow up.

16" with a good brake is about the same as the 18" with a good brake. Might not be a popular brake but a good one will do.

a 16" 5.56 Standard mid bbl weighs 2.2lbs (I just weighed one we have getting ready to ship) the Carbine length one weighs about the same. Our bull profile is almost a whole pound extra. I know bbl weighs have been a HUGE question among customers who are competition shooters. I'd love to start collecting data for everyone, but we don't have a scale here at the shop yet that shows us ounces. Perhaps one of the guys here has weighed their 5.56. As for your other question: "can the barrels be cut down and the gas ports be opened up" Yes. We can do that for you.

if the 16' std weighs in at roughly 35 oz then the 18" would be considerably more. The rifle length gas system is really what I want and an intermediate as well( those tend to be a Noveske thing). It would be awesome if you could get the weight of a 18" light contour and standard contour.

My current SPR 18" rifle length barrel weights in at 2 lbs 9 oz with a 0.84" diameter under the hand guard. Based on calculation, the 18" BHW light LTR profile would be at 2 lbs 5oz.
BHW and Criterion are the only two that I can find so far with lighter profiles as std.

I was also curious about the weight of the 18" barrels. I was considering fluting under the hand guard to mitigate the weight issue.
