I am still looking to identify the best bolt to buy for my 6.8 SPC II. Any suggestion as to a bolt and where I might find one.

Looks like you might contact Armalite or TA and see about a back order. You are about 30 days late but the parts are trickling in.

At this point the "best" bolt on the market will be any you can find from a name brand builder. You might check out the 68 Forum for some leads and info.

Thanks much. I just ordered my barrel so I have some time. I am just starting the build and as a rookie have a lot to learn about the AR world. My goal is to have something I can hunt hogs with in Texas by next November. If I could get the right complete lower, I would jump on it. Unfortunately, you are right I am really really late to the party. I have a couple of bolt action rifles as backup, but think an AR would better meet my needs.

If you have until November set back and have a glass of sweet tea. This will all shake out by May on parts. The Congress will have moved on and the AWB will be a threat out of the pass. NO ONE that I have read has said they contemplate getting an AWB or even the magazine deal through. The Senate probably won't even get it our of committee.

IMHO you will have plenty of time to get that bolt. Meanwhile get some back orders in and get your loading gear together.

I appreciate your calming advice. I am using the time to learn and ask questions. That is why I am on this forum and found the barrel I wanted.

Ordered the BHW 16 inch 6.8 SPC II light with mid gas

I just finished assembling my AR in 6.8 SPC today, cleaned the barrel good, and had to shoot 5 rounds out of it to see if everything worked OK, and it did.
I bought an 18" Blackhole barrel, with black finish.
I don't have access to a nice range right bow, so I don't know how it did for accuracy, maybe too soon to tell. I did have the barrel cryo-tempered, and the price couldn't be beat, but I do send this place a Lot of other business at work.
I am looking forward to seeing what this thing is capable of soon.

Some other particulars on it
Stag Arms 6.8 marked lower, upper I don't remember, maybe YHM
DD carrier, LWRC bolt
geissele NM trigger
Battle arms ambidextrous safety, phase 5 extended skeleton bolt release
UBR buttstock
Tubb coil spring, spikes T2 buffer
BCM pistol grip
Ranier raptor ambidextrous charge handle
Troy 12" MFR quad rail hand guard
Gemtech-smith vortex flash hider with quickmounts
PRI adjustable gas block, YHM black rifle length tube
Larue LT111 scope mount
Leupold patrol 3-9 tactical (I wish it had a side focus,instead of on the eyepiece)
I am using PRI magazines for this rifle

Otherwise its just another black rifle, but I like it. Now I need to find some wild pigs.

i got the lwrc bolt as well, im impressed with the extractor strength... also using a ST-T2 buffer and UBR stock (love the presets).
