Hello, newbie here. I hope this is in the right area if not please move it.
I am curious about the increase in velocity claim with the polygonal rifling. Is there any documentation showing what kind of increase one might expect? If someone has done their own comparison I would love to hear the results.
I have heard that you could get 20" barrel velocity out of an 18" barrel. I just wondering how true that is. If that is the case would it be reasonable to assume that a 14.5" could get 16" barrel #s or a 16" could get 18" #s?
Thanks for any info. ya'll might be able to share. garand308
Will documentation as in personal use count? I'm getting an average of 75 to 100 FPS over book published velocity on my reloads and also seeing the same increase on my ammo fired in a regular rifled barrel vs a BHW poly barrel in my 6X45.
Documentation of this phenomena is quite common out there. I believe PacNor has some and looking over the literature should yield more evidence of this.
One I get my BHW 223 barrel in hand I'll be able to run some side by side tests with the other half dozen 556/223's I own.
