I recently purchased a BHW from a vendor on Gunbroker. It suppose to be a spec II barrel is there a way to verify that from the proof marks? I also have read a little about HBT loads--What do I need to know about them?

There was change in the LBC family using a different head spaced bolt. That was right on a year ago. Greg

Greg is correct, All our 6.8 barrels are and have always been SPC II barrels. Each one will have a stamp on the back that reads as follows: BHW 6.8 1X11 SS P3 #(a lot number so we can track the steel we made it from and when) and a random letter or letters to identify who it was that inspected it. If it was made before September 2011 it will have a front stamp that reads 6.8 1X11 SS P3 instead of laser engraving. It won't say 6.8SPC II because we don't have enough room for the lettering in the stamping press. Hope that helps.

Greg was correct that its a 6.8. Was suppose to be early production. The BHW marking was at the base end with a U underneath. Toward the front of the barrel its marked like the barrel on my 5.56 barrel. The markings on it are BRO 6.8M SS 1x10, threaded with 1/2 x 28. this lead me to think it was maybe early model.

Well, quit reading and get shooting!!!! Greg PS: Congratulations. One of those 6.8's will have to wander my way later this year if things work out.

Sorry it took me so long to repost but once I got the 6.8 sighted in I found myself reloading to shoot some more. Groups have been under 1 MOA-- ;D. Thanks Greg you're right--just shoot it---very little recoil--couple of hiccups but......Thanks
