I have a couple of questions about the group buy.
Why only in a 20 inch. I feel I am giving up a lot of fps with only a 20 inch barrel. All of the testing Ive seen is with a 22" or 24" barrel. Doesn't that just make it a 6x45?
Is it available only in satin finish? I like mine bright and shiny. Finish comes off to easily out in the brush.
Is the gas block adjustable?

I'm not affiliated wtih BHW so these answers are just my guess.... I'm sure someone who knows for sure will answer Monday.
Why the 20"? I bet it'll be the most popular length. A lot of us dislike the long heavy barrels in the AR. An 18-20" is perfect IMO. Sure you give up a little speed from a 24 but you gain much more balance and feel. A 20" 6x6.8 would still smoke a 6x45.
Why only satin finish? Again, I would venture to say it's probably a combination of the most popular/cheapest. I don't have the satin finish but I have a 5.56 barrel from BHW that has been thrown around and beat to hell and the finish has held up GREAT.
The gas block pictured isn't an adjustable one.
My guess would be that they won't allow substitutions.... In my experience, group buys are usually an as is kinda deal. They do them in bulk to drop prices... so customizations takes that in the wrong direction.
There's no doubt that it's an SMOKIN deal!! Unfortunately, I'm in the same boat as you... Just not what I want. I'll wait till the barrels are out and get the perfect one!
18" Black finish/Threaded for a DragonHead Brake!

The intent of this group buy is to get this great little cartridge into the market place, with quality ammunition, upper and barrel.
The 20" barrel is the best compromise between the 18" and 24" barrels as is the finish a comprise. It is very hard to predict what the most popular combinations of components would be.
We will certainly consider allowing the substitutions * 18" or 24" barrel length * machine or blackened finish * threaded muzzle Please let us know your thoughts and opinions, they matter to us

Master Yoda,
Thanks for the response! I sure think the substitutions would be a good idea! Idk if I could let my dream 6x6.8 get away....
Thanks

I'd be interested in a 22" or 24" if the option was available, and a threaded option would be cool too.

I would love to see 24" option! That would really give some distance options.

Now that the Group buy has ended, can anyone release the number of 6x6.8 uppers that were ordered. I think that I had read that it was expected to take about 30 days to fill and ship the 6x6.8 uppers after close-out date, and did I also read that Ritch was building all of them? I know build time very well may be affected by total number ordered, and I am just curious, seeing as how I am waiting on two of the 18 inch ones. I am old and my memory is bad, so what I remember about this could be full of errors, but I am sure there are lots of others who would like to get any status info available and guesstimations about delivery.

I'm not sue what the time table is on the delivery. I would call BHW direct on Monday and chat with them. I'm sure Andy would be happy to share any details of the current status of the builds. Greg
