We have had an unexpected delay in production I can only assure you I am not intentionally delaying you or anyone else. I hope to have good answers the first of the week

Was wondering if the 6-8 week delivery times listed on the website for a new barrel is accurate?

6-8 weeks is about right. I hate telling people that because I know when I order something I want it right now! As for the logistics of it all... Once a barrel starts the actual manufacturing process it takes about 3 weeks from start to finish, since everything is done by hand instead of an automated system. The reason for such a long outlook is due to the fact that we're still recovering over a nickle shortage earlier this year. Nickle is a primary ingredient in stainless steel, which is what our barrels are actually made form. So the actual processing time takes a lot longer than our production time. Because there were a few months of production time where we simply did not have steel, we are caught playing catch-up. I started here in March of this year and I think it was about 2 weeks later that we started getting our first shipments of new steel in. So we are trying to get the older orders caught up first. Aside from a few special orders that have been waiting on reamers, we seem to be at about March with some of the backlog. The only difference in wait time is if we happen to have a desired barrel in our stock of already completed (We've been trying to rebuild a surplus of our more popular barrels as we go if we happen to be running a specific type that week) or if we happen to be running a bunch of one type at once and that order just happens to fit with those particular orders. For instance. If the next order on our backlist to be made are 18" Standard Mid Length barrels, we will then run a large amount of the Standard Mids we can at that time, regardless of when they were ordered. This allows us to reduce the amount of people waiting and having to take the time to re-calibrate all our machines to a new profile type. A lot of our barrels are custom chambered and made to order, so this takes time as well. Everything in the barrel manufacturing process is done in house, from shaping to finishing. I'm not sure if that helps make sense of our process. But if we are able to get caught up and everything runs swimmingly to where we have nothing but current orders to take care of, our production could go down to about 3-4 weeks for individual orders--that including the processing times. I know I'm not really on the manufacturing end of things, but that's the best I can explain it. I work inside the shop but I don't actually run the machines aside from a staple gun or polishing lathe. I managed to hurt myself with steel wool once... So any help I could offer on the floor might actually hinder the process! lol

What a nice explanation Kizmit. The nickle shortage has raised havoc across the gun world this year. At least the post election rush was finally handled by most suppliers.
Hand work on a barrel makes so much difference in the long run on performance. Anyone can buy a machine, get "OK" material and start cranking them out. When I screw one on a receiver and set down at a bench I could just about tell you in 50 rounds if this one was mass produced product or if it was made by craftsman that still took pride in their work.
Looking over the pics of groups shot with the BHW barrels on this site and some I have seen posted other places there is no doubt in my mind as to which group the BHW barrels fall into.
You all are doing a stellar job. Waiting is frustrating but I might point out that often times in life we wait for the best things to happen to us and it does pay off in the long run.

Wow Kizmit what an awesome reply! I really appreciate the time and effort you put into it.
I guess once I figure out what I want, I'll hit you up via pm to figure out what's sizes and profiles are most common ;D

Our Bolts, BCGs and Railed uppers are manufactured off site with a partner company we've contracted. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure on the logistics of their delays as of late, as I don't deal with them directly like the accounting department does. I know that we're long over due for a shipment of bcg's and railed uppers I'd like to be shipping out about now.

Any new information on the railed uppers? Trying to figure out when I can hope to see the 308 upper I ordered in April.
