Well we finally got rid of the warm weather for a few days and got an inch of snow. We headed up north not far off highway 41. We set up along a cow pasture and set the foxpro and coyote decoy out. It wasnt 3 minutes and see a hard charger coming across the pasture. Once he got to abot 200 yards a second was screaming right behind it. I told my dad when i stop them to shoot the front and ill pick up the back dog. Well when the front dog hit about 80 yards and the second dog at 150ish dad shot and ill be danged if his dog didnt turn and run. Well by the time i got back on my dog he was heading into a swell in the field. So i swung back to my dads dog and hit it on my second shot in the back of his head at about 200 yards with my 20 Practical. The rest of the day was a wash out but i enjoyed hunting with my dad. (even though we ragged him hard the rest of the day for missing)

That is super. I wish they grew coats like that on them around Phoenix. Mine all wear bikinis, and they are little ones at that!! Greg

I'm looking forward to trying my Fox Pro this Spring. I've used it before to bag two Bob Cats but no yotes yet.
We can hear them at night raising a fuss and they have NOT been hunted where I am. I have NO experience in hunting them but have read they are smart and VERY PARANOID.
I plan on getting some type of decoy, either like the one you have, or something to excite them like the fuzzy ball that dances about.
Nice pics...

i do note recommend the full body coyote decoy for a beginner. You really have to know the area your calling and know when to use it. But the Foxpro decoy i dont go in the field without it

Thanks for the tip reference the decoy... what reasons would there be for NOT using a decoy?
Also, what mechanical teasers or decoys do you recommend?
I'll be hunting over some clear cut areas surrounded by planted pines as well as some low swap areas.

My thoughts (and just my opinion) a decoy will scare any young dog. You notice the size of the dog in my picture above. He was the Alpha male in the area. Just the other day i had a small male hang up just inside a fence row barking at me until my partner slipped around and smoked him. He was barking at my coyote decoy. So unless you are certain you are hunting an area where an "alpha male" is i do not recommend the decoy. Breeding season is another good time to use the decoy. It will bring the males running. As far as motion decoys. Anything that moves works. I stick to foxpro.

Thanks for the reply and information. Makes sense reference running off the smaller ones.
We hear them constantly and have seen them a few times crossing the roads. When I'm at work (on night shift) I see them all the time on the golf courses... not too sure folks would appreciate me smoking one... but I've been tempted plenty of times.
Funny how you see them in very crowded neighborhoods...

Go ahead and smoke one of them and see what they say. Easier to ask for forgiveness then to ask permission.
