I just read on a Grendel board where an R Johnson states that BHW is now standardized on the "Type II" bolt. Does this mean that the decision has been made, or is it simply a causal reference to the default chambering of the current BHW .264LBC's?

Does this mean that the decision has been made, or is it simply a causal reference to the default chambering of the current BHW .264LBC's? Actually I wrote that not Ritch. The default on the 264 has been TYPE II for going on two years now. The other variants have a TYPE I chamber by design. A TYPE I chamber is available on request in the 264 at this point. I have not heard of any TYPE II variants being produced. My statement: Since BHW standard 264 LBC is now the deeper Type II all should be well in the neighborhood.
No "decision" has been made to change from the current production. Input was asked and nothing has changed at this point. Greg THE ABOVE STATEMENT IS NO LONGER CORRECT AS OF EARLY 2014 UNLESS SPECIFICALLY ORDERED ALL 264LBC CHAMBERINGS ARE NOW TYPE I. THEY REQUIRE A 7.62X39 BOLT

Hmm. I reread and I can still see it read as a statement of what is standard.. Too many hours on the road fuzzed my head, I guess.

Ordered a 264 LBC barrel from SAA and found that its a type 1. Had allready had a Type 2 6.5 grendel bolt by redXarms. Think I'll have problems?

Yes you will have problems. At the very least you will be ruining your brass every shot. You WILL have an extra .010 head space. You need a .125 deep bolt.

will the hornady factory ammo in 6.5 grendel work with either bolt?

will the hornady factory ammo in 6.5 grendel work with either bolt? Yes as long as the chamber and bolts are matched. That would be a Type I bolt and chamber or a Type II and chamber. Mixing them will result in either excessive headspace of 0.020 or a chamber 0.020 too short and the ammunition potentially would you not chamber at all. Greg
