Summer has arrived officially and things are heating up.
As many of you know Ritch Johnson and I are both on the BHW Pro Staff and he is an Administrator here on the board. BHW and TA have been working together on projects for the past two years. The ammunition that TA loads is decent stuff and maybe because Ritch and I did all the load development they got lucky. Who knows??
Ritch and I have some things cooking that we have invested in and BHW and TA have joined us in bringing them on board. Those will be the cause of several new threads to empty your pocket book with in the near future if things work out.
Meanwhile Ritch decided to barrel up a new upper the other day. This one is a 16" 6X68 light weight BHW with a threaded muzzle. He did not put a comp on it yet so is running a thread protector. He has an adjustable BTE block on this one. The BCG is a nickel boron coated unit. Scope is a Burris. The lower is one of those magnesium set ups that hit the market a few months ago. The stock is just a commercial M4 that sees a Magpul conversion in its' future. He did not tell me who's FF tube is on this one and I don't recognize this one.
Temps were in the upper 80's with a slight periodic 5 MPH zephyr. Ammunition was Tactical Ammunition 58 Grain VMAX, magazine fed, with 100 yard range to the target. The dots are 3/4"
The rifle of the morning:
A decent try at putting them together:
Next group up for proofing the first:
Not bad for a guy only slightly younger than I am!! Group #1 is 0.308 CTC and Group #2 is 0.508 CTC. The ammunition was from the first batch TA turned out and it has certainly proven itself in many targets and varmint hunts since it came out.
I've got a 20" 6X68 leaning over in the safe corner and an 18" tube coming that will be my 3 Gun hammer. Time to get the 6MM bullets out and start tipping a powder can.
Thoughts?
Greg
