Hi all, This is my ar 15 in 7.62x39. It is a hybrid ar 15 that uses ak 47 magazines. Otherwise known as an AR-47. It is a very accurate rifle and shoots very smooth. I recently found this receiver from Michaels Machines in Ohio. The web site is www.ar-47.com. It is a very nice peice and was well worth the money. I never liked the function of the ar mags with the ak round. Never seemed to work very well. It always seemed to not chamber the rounds very well. Now it functions flawlessly. Attachments:

I can shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards with it. It has a 3-9x40 scope on it.

Its just a basic rifled barrel, nothing speacial. I ordered the rifle as a kit with the upper already built. I am using facotry loads. I've been using silver bear ammo.

Geoff Now you need to step up to a BHW barreled upper and you will be introduced to the world of true accuracy. You get a 264 LBC you can even use the same magazines. Greg

I just ordered a barrel from you for a 5.56 rifle im building for my daughter. I've heard alot of good things about your barrels so i figured i would try one out. Early next year im gonna be starting a build on a 308 based ar. I wil be ordering a 18 or 20 inch barrel for that build as well.

As for me I'm just a guy that Carl likes. I don't work for BHW. I am a Pro Staff meaning I get to evaluate products and lend my experience and assistance. You are in for a great experience and the fellows on here are very knowledgeable. Greg

So far i like what i have heard. If i do cahange to the 264 lbc will i have ti change my bolt? And i probably will go with a longer barrel when i do change it over. Right now i have a 16 inch barrel in it, I did some research last night on the 264 lbc and i like the balistics if the round.

Greg and I have been getting some impressive velocities out of some 24 inch barrels we are testing right now.

Now this has me thinking about changing to the 264 lbc. I might have to do this in the near future.

Then I read what Greg said above. THAT got my attention! An AR in .264 LBC using AK mags?!? WHERE DO I SIGN UP!?!?!

My personal fellings aside if you have the morphed lower you do what you need to do. Not my idea of elegant but if it runs results are what matters. Greg

Not my idea of elegant but if it runs results are what matters. Greg Hi Greg, I also noticed that Rock River Arms does an AR in 7.62x39 that takes AK mags. Any idea if: 1) The barrel can be switched to a .264 LBC by BHW? 2) The .264 LBC rounds will cycle through that upper? I read on the website of the guys who made the OP's lower that the upper would have to be altered a bit in order for the wider brass to cycle through... Let me know if you have any ideas-- the .264 LBC is one of the few AR ammo types that I am genuinely-excited about (6.8SPC and 6x45 are the others)!

Sorry for stepping on Greg's toes!!!!!! #1 Yes any cartridge with a standard Mil-Spec barrel extension will fit any Mil-Spec upper. So the answer to your question is yes it will work. #2 Again the answer is yes. You would not have to alter anything. 7.62X39 brass is the parent case for the Grendel LBC family of cartridges.
