I'm new to the AR 308 scene but am familiar with AR-15. Since the 308 is a leap in round-size and charge(powder's power?) does an adjustable gas block make sense in order to help lessen the felt-recoil or am I just over thinking this build? I'm putting together a 24" barrel rig with billet upper+lower along with a compensator/muzzle brake and possibly use a heavy BCG. I've been researching all of this for a few months now and am hoping I can get some feedback to help me sort out that particular decision. I want to make the most of these fantastic barrels that I reaching out to the experts for guidance.
Thanks in advance!

What is will do is let you tune the ejection and bolt speed to let you use a broader range of components. The use of a good muzzle brake will do more for you than anything else. Greg

Greg Greg, with an adjustable gas block do you have to drill the gas tube? I have not used one yet and was talking with a friend about it and he said he thought that you could drill and tap the existing gas block and install a set screw with some blue lock tight. I had not thought of it until he said something about it. What do you think?

The drilling of a regular gas block/FSB is done on Service Rifles but that it a slick trick for competition. A good machinists can do it but for $40.00 why would you not go first cabin? Greg

I ordered my second BTE, adjustable gas block this time for for my .936 diameter bull barrel and included a note that I'd prefer that it not have the sight rail on it. I heard from George in a very short time that they only offer the large caliber, adjustable version with the sight rail. He offered to machine it off for me and recoat it black if I was willing to wait a few days. I gladly agreed. Now that's great customer service!
