I use what is now Hornady tool for length (ogive to lands) This was not the issue. The loaded rounds could be placed in the chamber and the bolt seated with one's pinky. Apparently the length of feed rails, angle of the round prior to clearing the feed lips soaked up to much off the buffer springs stored energy. previously noted scratches on the front of the bullets from the locking lugs are part of the problem. A round could be seated with the forward assist but this defeats the intent of an auto loader. A stuck round removed, showed scoring on 1/2 its circumference well up on the bullet indicating contact with the throat I will see if I can get a picture that illustrates the problem. The throat on this reamer is pretty tight. The Tubb 2000 was advertised as not applying any force to the projectile during loading reading his promotional copy may illuminate what I believe to be the issue. Until I purchase a case concentircity gauge. when I will remove the ejector and firing pin and check a round before and after chambering.
At any rate it feeds great now and the fact that even I managed a 1/min group without being a gun writer, means I am happy. with a long winter ahead I will probably polish the inside of the feed lips on on magazine. Take the indentation out of another and buy one of those fancy waffel-ed and butt welded mags to see what gives.
For now its off to the range for the better part of the day Forecast high winds and it might get to 50 degrees last night it was 26 this morning it was 35 at 0700 at 1000hrs its 30 and dropping. I should have the range to my self.
Good shooting Paul
