I've got a standard profile BHW 18" mid-length gas system barrel on order to build my AR, waiting patiently my 10 - 12 weeks. I also have a YHM 9636 Lightweight Series Forearm already bought, rifle length based on my previous forum question. I'm looking at a Vltor GB-2C clamp on gas block to use with the barrel but am wondering if anyone knows for sure that it will fit under the YHM 9636 forearm rail (i.e. the YHM will fit over the Vltor when clamped on the barrel)? The YHM says it is 1.750 inches in diameter. I have searched the web trying to find any kind of documentation that says what rail system the Vltor GB-2C will fit under. I have found that it will not fit under the Daniels Defense and LaRue Tactical forearm rails. Any suggestions or knowledge here would help. Thanks!

I can't answer your question for sure about the Vltor gas block. I can tell you a BTE clamp on adjustable will fit under the hand guard. BTE gas blocks are priced VERY competitively. In fact they are very inexpensive compared to the other premium gas blocks on the market. There are some pics of them in the accessories section of these forums. Also here is a link to BTE's store. bte-usa.com/

I built a 6.8 SPC a few years back and used a YHM free float upper on it. most any low profile (minus that sight rail) will fit. I'm not sure a railed gas block will work to be honest. I agree with Ritch. The BTE GAS BLOCK is superb. All my uppers now have them in either with adjustable or noon adjustable models.
Give them a call. It's possible that they can give you better info on the phone. At least you might get a better idea of when they will make some more. George and his team are great people making a great product.
Edit:
I finally found a very good photo of this upper and it is a replacement for the standard USGI handguard. Diffently not FF
