What kind of barrel life are the 260/6.5 shooters seeing? I'd kinda like to build a 6.5-284 for precision matches, just to be different, but you know the 6.5-284 likes to burn barrels with traditional rifling. 6.5-284 = 700-2000 rounds is the norm 260 = 3000-6000 6.5CM = 2500-4000 Personally I would reverse the numbers on the 260 and the CM as the little guy burns less powder for same same performance. Pressure would be a factor but I think the torch takes priority on this one. Greg

Greg CM is a higher SAAMI spec then 260, "62k" PSI is what kills the barrel, not powder. look at the 6.5 GAP RSAUM, 200fps faster then a 6.5x284 and gun are getting 3000+ on barrel life. why?.. its getting those speeds while running just over 50kpsi

Powder choices has some influence. A 556 runs higher pressure than a 22-250. The little guy runs far longer than the big one. Kess pressure and slower velocities so it can't be pressures by themselves.
