According to Joey Brixey Tactical Ammunition, Inc Manufacturing Supervisor
I followed up with my boss on this. He said that the rear of the bolt (TA88-0416 7.62 x 39) is slightly machined to allow for the firing pin to strike military primers harder farther.
Thought someone might like to know this the two bolts are not the same While this bolt might work for the 264lbc it sounds like there could be some primer strike issues using the TA88-0416 bolt with non military primers.

And what happens when you run a commercial, ala American loaded, 7.62X39 round with one of those longer striking firing pins set up with the tail change? Absolurley nothing. If we are running at sane pressures it will perform the same. We have been shooting 7.62X39 bolts in 90% of the rifles and never experinced any piercing or other issues. We don't shoot militay ammunition primers as there are none that delivers like the 450's and 7 1/2's. Let's not get hung up and over think on the what if here. Experince does count for something. Pick your bolt and make holes. Greg

i am not getting hung up on anything TA simply sells what i thought was the exact same bolt under two different part numbers I only wondered what the differences was hence the beginning question are these the same I shot an email off to TA and that was there reply one was milled off a little for steel cased ammo and since you had replied that they were the same I wanted to pass along the info from TA directly If you are shooting these and have no problem with them then great either one will work. happy shootin'
