I have a 20" and 22" BHW barrels in .264LBC. Looking to order a custom Leupold scope dial for each and wanted to know what velocities to expect so that the dials are as accurate as possible.

This ought to be interesting. I've never shot a round of factory ammo in a BHW other than 556.

Since you ask specificially about Hornady ammo Here is their specs from the horse's mouth. It looks like they give info for 24" and 16" Averaging might not be an exact science however if you do average a 20" barrel would run at the muzzle 2465 vel/1633 ft.lbs and at 500 yards you would be looking at 1704 vel/795 ft.lbs that would be my guess.

The problem is two fold. Factory ammunition rarely shoots the advertised velocity and the big one...BHW polygonal barrels tend to run faster than a standrd barrel. Our 20" velocites are pretty consistently equal to a 22". Our 22" are more like a 24" Hence the guesstimating without actual field application can be problematic.

View Attachment The Hornady loads are pretty mundane. I have been getting 2750 with a 123 Nosler CC and CFE223. But that's from a 24" barrel. I don't think you would loose 300 FPS in 4 inches. ( By the way the CFE load came from Hogdon's web site ). Just as a side note: Forget the Hornady brass and go with Lapua you will be a lot happier in the end. Also the brass from AA is now made by Hornady.
