Any reasons to or not to build a 264LBC 10.5" pistol, That is the question? Was thinking the 10.5" pistol gas light barrel. Has anyone run one?? I would love to get the order going if it is a feasible build.
Thanks

I don't know of anyone here doing one but no reason why you couldn't get one turned up and make it happen. I'm quite sure the crew would be glad to make you one up.

Just wondering how it would run. Guess I will find out. Do you think pistol length has will be ok or would carbine length be better?

In my opinion it would defeat the purpose of the cartridge...long range. I would go with 300 BLK if a pistol is what you want. This is a great round for that and ammo avaliable in sub and super sonic

I already have a 20" 264lbc. Was wanting to do a pistol for convenience and also suppressed operation. Also have 458socom pistol. I like the size and weight of the pistol but do not want to get into another caliber with the 300bo. Will probably do the pistol gas with the adjustable gas block.

A 10.5 inch 264LBC might not fit the purpose the cartridge was designed for,... but it would still make one helluva 200 yard gun.

Since I have the 20" I wanted something else for more compact lower recoil shooting. If I want the big thumper I will take the 458. I hear about 6.8spc and have shot the 5.56 out of the 10.5. And shooting the 458 socom out of a 10.5 I have been impressed. The worst that will happen is I would be out $269 then buy another 18 to 24 inch barrel. That's what I love about the ar15. If you don't like it change it without taking you to the cleaners.

I hate lugging heavy gear. I think it would be slick as a hunting pistol or one day SBR. I shoot a 7mm TCU that puts Hdy 139s out at 1900 fps from a 10 inch pistol. 3 inches high at 100 yds makes it 4.5 inches low at 200 yds. That's point and shoot. I'm guessing the LBC should do that with an inch less drop or more.

My 20" is a bit on the heavy side. Have not put it on a scale, but is heavier than my 16" socom. I am. Anxious to play with the 10.5 in 264.

WOOOHOOOO got the shipping notice today. Should have the barrel in my hands Tomorrow 6-2. Only thing lacking is the muzzle device now. Will post pics when I get her together.
ETA; Ordered 12 APR so just a little over 6 weeks. Not bad, was expecting closer to 12 weeks since this is such an oddball build. But I am NOT complaining.

Weigh that barrel and tell us what profile you ordered, if you don't already have the gun together.

Finished the build the same day I got the barrel. Just had to wait on a few parts. Was waiting on the Brake and trigger Guard. Got the Muzzle Brake in. Here is a shot, just waiting for a trigger guard. Also went to the range. Things went pretty well. Took the 20" to get some chrony numbers for a start point. Ran 123gn AMAX and SSTs. ..............20".....................................10.5" Amax.................SST...........AMAX..............SST 2456.................2470............2127...............2118 2466.................2484............2078..............2125 2465.................2473.............2099..............2158 2475.................2479.............2123...............2142 2477.................2488.............2121...............2131 2466.................2486.............2110 2476.................2490.............2119 2474.................2470.............2089 2481.................2471..............2111 2467.................2503.............2117 Ran low on SST's and I wanted to make sure I had enough to run a group. 2470.3avg........2481.4avg.....2109.4avg.......2134.8avg For the first 20 rounds things went fine. Then the 10.5 started failing to eject. It was closing down on the case or stove piping depending on which side the next round was feeding from. Not sure what is going on. Probably a gas problem. Will trouble shoot and report back. The scope is the Leupold VX pig plex 1-4. Not a super high resolution and I think it could do better. Here is a group of the sst's at 50yds. I did make a 2 click down after the first shot. But still not bad. Here is 100 yds using the AMAX, sandbagged front, held with 2 hands on the grip and cheek touching rear of tube. And here is Big Sister amax at 100yds I pulled the 3rd shot as you can see. But even still under 1-MOA. I did some ballistic comparison between the 264LBC/6.5G and the 6.8SPC. They are virtually the identical out to 200yds. I would not want to regularly shoot past 200 with a 10.5" but might do some workups to 300. Other than the fact the 264LBC/6.5G is known as a long range round, there is no reason I can see not to build one. Since the ballistics are identical to the 6.8SPC. There is no reason to get a different caliber just to build a pistol or SBR. Over-all I am very happy with this build. Once I get the bugs worked out it will be great! I am glad I put it together.

That's a pretty nice batch if data and range work. Surprisingly the loss per inch I s between 30 and 35 FPS. The bigger bore is more forgiving than than a 5.56.
