I used to trap a lot of Beavers. As fuel prices raised, my trapping was curtailed. Fur prices couldn't support my interest. I still have most of my traps and may get back into it if fur prices go up. With the US dollar down fur prices may be good next year. I'm getting too old to carry 60 pound beavers a mile out to the truck(especially if I catch 2 or 3 at a set).

I always wanted to get into trapping.. now I'm 63, and got my three grandsons up in St.Maries Idaho started.. I've got a little retirement home on the St. Joe and the lagoon out front is loaded with 'rats.. we also discovered a beaver lodge and some runs up the Joe where we were deer hunting last fall.. the boys got two beaver this winter trapping under ice.. hard way to go...guess they got six or seven rats.. it's a start... Trapping is fun, although it can be a lot of work at times, but when it comes to coyotes I find i am much more effective with a gun then i am with a trap. I need to work on set location or something.
