Finally got a chance to spend some time on the bench with a new Black Hole 6x45, 20" , 8 twist barrel. I broke the barrel in with 85gr Sierra Pro Hunters but with the 8 twist I couldn't get them to shoot very well, I used H335 and 8208. I switched to the Hornady 100gr BTSP Interlock and things came together quickly with the 100gr Hornady and 8208XBR. The groups pictured bellow were shot using once fired (1X) Winchester Military bras from LEOBRASS.COM. I think it ran me 9.00 a hundred polished. I necked the cases up with a Sinclair mandrel die and seated the bullets with a set of RCBS .243 Winchester dies. I loaded them this way due to the fact my Hornady 6mm- .223 dies hadn't arrived yet and I'm not at very patient person, my dies were delivered today. I had to cut the front out of several MagPul magazines to get my overall length of 3.345 to feed well from the magazine. The VLD style magazines work excellent and I'm looking forward to using them with some other 95, 105 & 107gr bullets I have. In all reality it's hard to beat what the rifle is already doing with the 100gr Hornadys. I plan on using this load for Coyotes, RockChucks and Mule deer. I'll work with some lighter flatter shooting varmint bullets later, after this falls hunting season.

Great looking rifle you have there BiggerHammer. I need to get my 20" 1:9 twist 6X45 out to test the heavier bullets. The mod you made to the Magpul magazines are quite impressive. LEOBRASS is local to me. Great service. Just ordered some Winchester brass from him.
About the magazines. would you please post some close-up pictures of the magazines? And about how far down you cut the openings to keep the structural integrity. Thanks for the post.

I was storing targets away in a file, I keep a file on every rifle/cartridge I shoot. I hate wasting time and componants repeating what I failed to document or failed to remember. For the short term or long term. The 3 shot group at 100 yards pictured above is incorrect in its measurement. The orange dot is a 3/4" dot, there's no way that group is .557 outside to outside, I don't know how I made the mistake but I did.

Your .557 is closer to the right size. You are shooting a .243 there are two bullet holes clearly visible with a small amount of paper in between. Measure from the outside of the black cut on the target to the outside of the other black cut and deduct .243. Your .317 is still a very respectable group, and I congratulate you for shooting it. Again not trying to bust your hump on this but there is no way that group is in the 1's

I don't know then? My calipers are spot on by checking them with a .318 pin. Here's .557 Here's .442 .442 -.243 --------- .199 We can always submit it to NASA for a precise measurement. I'll take the low .2's just the same.

Thanks for sharing about your build and some results. Tight groups!
I saw the 6x45 1/8 twist 20" barrel and got one on order using the RTS 20% sale. You got a nice build that inspires me to build one.

Great looking AR BH. Looks like a good shooter too. Nice mods on the Magpul mags. What king of speeds are you getting with the HDY 100 BTSP ?

Also interested in the 100gr velocities and if the P3 rifling makes much difference.

I haven't taken the time to shoot it over a chrony or magnetto speed yet. I've just crunched in a bench session here and there on the fly. I've been way busy, today will be 21 days straight at work, tomorrow will be my first day off in a loooooong time. In all truthfulness I still like speed and while the 6x45 is a great chambering, I decided to build another AR in 6x6.8. I ordered all the parts in, dropped the upper, lower and handguard off with my Cerakote guy to do in my "Terminal,Grey". The 22" , 9 twist BHW 6x6.8 will be here next week and having no patients whatsoever, I pulled the 6x45 barrel off the AR pictured above to make room for the 6x6.8 barrel that will be arriving. The 6x45 barrel will go on the new build. Then I went on a shopping frenzy so I can feed the new 6.6.8 barrel when it arrives. I'm thinking about ordering in a 24" Semi-Bull in .243 LBC. I'm a mess when it comes to AR's. When I get back to the 6x45 I'll post more results and speeds but I don't know when that will be. I've read through piles of 6.68 data over the last several evenings and not much gets me worked up but I am really looking forward to some trigger time with the 6x6.8. A few 6x6.8 goodies and 500 Hornady 87gr BTHP's on the way from Brownells. I HAVE NO SELF CONTROL!!!!

BH - I got the BHW manager barrel! I guess I will stay with this one vs 6x68. I have a 243 win bolt action to make the longer 100gr shots. I did order ( free shipping brownells ) a Gibbz side charging upper. I hope to single load longer 95gr A-Max. Found 8208 XBR at a mom/pop store - elated!
This project is coming along slowly. I will post pics when it is done.
