Our big game season here in Washington starts in mid October. Bear season being open now. Having two Mule deer tags, a cougar tag, two black bear tags and a elk tag with the option of taking a bull or a cow(Have a permit). Almost every year, I choose a different chambering for my hunting season. I have gone from one extreme to the other over the years. .257 DGR, .257 Arnold Magnum, .338 Edge, .450 Ultra Magnum, 7x57, .404 Jeffery and sticks with sharp pointy things on the end, slung caveman style. I have a standard contour 22" BHW, 9 twist barrel being delivered tomorrow. Made a run through the local shops and a trip on line for some componants to get the show on the road. I'm thinking about running the whole season with the 6x6.8 and seeing how it performs across the board on big game animals. I do have some 90gr Nosler Accubonds being delivered by Friday. What I'm looking for is real world loads that have worked for you. From the research I have done and that has nothing to do with kissing the feet of QL. I'm banking on 8208 across the board and maybe a little CFE tossed in for speed at the right place.

8208 will treat you well with 90 grain. When I had mine I intended on using the 90 grain accubond with Midwest whitetail. Work up a load with the 87 grain Amax then drop down a bit and do the same with the accubond. With Hornady brass, BR4 primer and 8208 with 87 Amax I had good luck flirting with max load in the 29's and COAL of 2.295. Start around 28 and work up. Looking forward to what you find with the accubond because I'll be getting another 6x6.8 someday.

I just noticed your Hornady 87 are BTHP not Amax but should be close.

Black Hole Weaponry 6x6.8 SPC 22" / 9 twist 90gr Nosler Accubond 28gr IMR8208XBR BR-4 primer Barrett cases 2.290 60 yards, bullet broke three ribs on impact and exited the opposite side. It was a Bang-Flop! Same rifle as above, different load/bullet. 95gr Hornady SST 27gr IMR8208XBR BR-4 primers Hornady cases 2.290 287 yards, bullet broke one rib on impact and a rib on the exit. It was also a Bang-Flop! Both loads have consistently shot 3/4 MOA or less at 300 yards.

Sure looks yummy. Badass looking rig too. This is going to be my next caliber. Was thinking the 25x45 but i'm really liking the specs of the 6x6.8.

I went with the 6x45 on that rifle first. Didn't take me long to see that I would like a little more horse power behind the 6mm bullet on the AR platform for the type of hunting I do.
Simple barrel, bolt and mag swap, not even a 30 minute ordeal and the 6x45 barrel was in the classifieds on a shooting forum and sold several hrs later.
