Please post how the distances were determined and the story. I caution that we are not here to judge another mans ability to determine distances, only have some fun

WSM's shot was done at a hunt in New Mexico, using a Shepard range finding scope. He used the 700 yard circle in the scope. Our shop foreman was there as was I. It was a pleasure to see him make the shots.

About 70 paces on a ground squirrel with a Colt Woodsman.
Furthest I've ever shot a deer was 50 yards or less. I'm not sure if that's sneaky or just picking the right place. And those are mule deer in Idaho mountains so no comments about swamps.
I'm assuming Fords don't count as critters...

Mine has been right at 410 yards on a PD in AZ. The trouble is here you can't see them any further out in the area I hunt. Greg

Longest shot on a yote was 355yds running away from us after my dad had missed a standing shot. Longest shot on a pd that was before range finders were cheap was guesstimated at over 750yds. The longest ranged pd was 450yds a couple of summers ago. But On a farm that is just outside of town that I have built a bench and set some gongs out there. I can go 9 out of 10 ringing the 9" gong at 400yds and 8 out of 10 ringing the 12"x18" plate. Just made up a couple more plates to set at 600 and 700 and 800yds. I really think that I have the distance to go out to 1000yds. I wish that the wind would stop blowing so I could get them set up and give it a shot.

longest with my bhw 6x45 railed upper was 623 ranged by my nikon 1200. The coyote held up and laid down facing me on a rock clif, so i held for his nose but hit him in the right eye he didn't even move. i was useing a 87 grain vmax.

for me 650 yard and another 700 yard mule deer. What a rush, using Nikon range finder and a shepard scope.

I'm just coming into long guns after having been in handguns for a long time, but I got a screamer deal on a S&W M&P 15 a year ago and have been using it to take care of our coyote problem around the house. This spring I got a 'yote on the run (he was cruising after one of our cats) at 113 yards from the house. I had to shoot quick because he was heading towards the left of the photo and wanted to get him before he got behind the shop. 2 shots- the first one spun him 180 (hit him in the back quarters) and the second hit thru the chest. Nothing like some of the other shots already posted, but my best so far. Here's a shot from the coyote's spot to the back of the house... Attachments:
