Long time researcher and lurker on the forum. Thought I'd just say "howdy". Currently reside in east-central KS about a day's ride to and from town...on horse back. I figure there might be at least one of you here that knows my moniker from elsewhere.
I come from a family of veterans; couldn't serve myself. USMC didn't like my heart "echo" and neither did Army. I'm terra ferma; so, USAF and Navy weren't for me. I can't fly and only dog paddle in the river(LOL). For all of you that have and/or are serving; RESPECT! Thank you.
I live to fish and hunt. I fish and hunt to "live". Not because my existence depends on it; but, because that's where I'm most "alive". I've enjoyed many seasons with open irons; but, my eyes are changing now as I go "over the hill". I've been blessed without any correction until I hit 50. Now I have readers, the irons are getting a little "dull", and the readers mess me on distance.
I travel...a lot! Work and pleasure. Although, I'm trying to do less for work.
I started a build about 4 years ago and got sidetracked. State of KS decided 2 or 3 years back that .223(previously .23) was legal for deer and the build has been on the back burner since. Time to get back to business. Who has a 23(I've seen only one)?
Starting out, this is a little hunting AR:
Seekins Precision forged upper
Seekins Precesion forged lower
CMMG minimal lower parts kit
ALG ACT group (IMO, a step up from standard, it breaks decent and I'm not in need of a precision setup)
Standard JBO BCG (what I have on hand)
PRI gas buster CH (what I have on hand)
BTE FF 13" hand guard
MagPul ACS(I may go rifle stock at some point; it's what I have at present)
Hogue grip
BHW 6x45, 18", 1:10, Mid, std profile .750, shot peened
Gas block...well...do I really need adjustable for a 6x45?
Haven't decided on glass, but leaning Vortex, only because I've not had one yet. Wanna see what they're about. I've used Burris and Leupold all my life, but I've actually had a failure with Leupold VX-III. They made good on the scope, but, that buck lived to see another day. It could have been my fault on the scope failure...I later found it went 20" high at 100m on me and the elevation wouldn't adjust, it was locked-up. No obvious damage to the scope. Good customer service from Leupold, no questions.
I'm still looking at load work-up. Lower is done. Work to do on the upper.
Sorry for the long intro. Too much "I" for me. But, hey, it was an intro, right?
Be Well,
CP
