I have 24" bhw barrel, chambered 264lbc. I will most likely shoot up to 500 yards with my gun on a hunting level. I will shoot target up to 1k yard. I have considered getting the Leupold 4.5-14 x 50 VX3L CDS scope. Does anyone have experience shooting these ranges with this scope and I am wondering if it is even possible to get the adjustment out of the scope to get to 1k yard, even with a 20moa scope base. I don't have my lower in yet, as it is being customized, so I don't know what velocity I'm going to get out of it yet. I will hand load it with 123gr A Max.

I'm shooting a 6.5x20 Vortex for those ranges with a 243LBC. I think you will be just a little underpowered. You have 60 MOA in that scope so ought to be GTG. You could use Burris Signature rings with the inserts and pick up another 20. Greg

I have looked at the vortex, they are fine optics well worth the money. I compared it to nikon monarch E3, leupold cds. They are all great quality. I had to decide on a happy medium. I designed a custom handguard, it is being built now, with pretty serious detail, I didn't want the extra length to cover half the handguard. I ended up choosing the cds, because it was little more compact, but still guaranteed me enough long range within the deer killing capabilities of the cartridge. I will still try a 1k yard shot, just to see. Looks like about the most I could get with the cds scope and sloped base, would be in the neighborhood of about 700 yards,on a good day without having to hold over. Although, if I start shooting 1k yards often with it, I can slap it on one of my other toys, go with larger scope. I have several that need upgraded already.

Primary Arms has some pretty nice scopes with good reviews at a pretty low cast. They are worth looking at.
