Ok what would have I better off with a fast flat lighter bullet or a slower higher bc heavier bullet? This is for all around use coyote hunting gun is a 6x6.8 ar. Distances can very anywhere from close to 600 plus yards. Also would the lighter bullet be better for running or moving coyotes but I will have long range ones mixed in there too. This load will be used for calling and spot and stalking type of hunting. I don't want to use two different loads.

This load will be used for calling and spot and stalking type of hunting. I don't want to use two different loads. Fast and flat for coyotes is my choice. The 58 grain Vmax is hard to beat. Shooting 600 yards is a completely different game. Most can't do it, the ones that can use $3000.00 plus rangefinders. When your shooting at a target the size of a can of beer, you better know what the hold should be. Run the drop tables on the bullets you want to use. You will find 1 click of elevation to much or to little and you will miss. Coyotes are not hard to kill if you hit them in the vitals. The bullet also needs to retain enough energy to penetrate and get inside then come apart. The heavy bullets at long range seem to pencil through without expanding. Shooting a moving coyote is tough at much past 100 yards, Hitting a running coyote at any range is an exercise in futility. I'm not saying it can't be done, just saying there is a lot of luck involved.

I shoot a .20 Practical when coyote. I use a 35 grain Berger with 22 grains of IMR 4198. gives you 3750 fps and laser beam accuracy .It is fur friendly and drops them usually where they are. Little hole going in and great trauma on the inside.
