Has anyone, or would it even be possible to do a 338-284win in an AR10/LR308 platform? Does anyone have experience with this wildcat?

I've never seen one built but here is some info on guys shooting it in bolt guns:

I don't see why it wouldn't work well. It is a tad slower than my 358 Norma Mag. I do believe this one would benefit from a good brake. Mine bolt gun is not that hard to shoot but every bit helps.

The 338-284 would be an easy wildcat to do. For starting load data use the 338-06 data from the Hodgdon reloading book .

I wonder if it can safely handle the recoil/pressure of that big .338 slug at similar pressures of say the 6.5-284 ctg. case...?

It wouldn't have to be any higher than the 6.5-284. The concern I have, and I HAVE NOT worked with an AR10 size cartridge would be in tuning the port for proper operation. I know my 20 Tactical is very picky about powders and pressure curves but not having ever loaded for one of these hot rods I can' say for certain. I think that's one reason why I hope Carl can get me set up with a 6.5-284 in the future so I can get my learning curve up. I need to be able to have some real world experience with a big boomer. This would be an interesting one. Of course it is going to burn some components up!! LOL Greg

would an adjustable gas block be an option for tuning the gas system?

I have not seen an adjustable block but then I haven't looked for one. I bet dollars to donuts there is at least one on the market. If so I would think this might be a definite plus for the project.
