Afternoon... while trying to decide on a caliber for my build, I was leaning towards the 223 wylde. However seeing how this has a longer throat to accommodate longer bullets, I'm concerned that if I want to shoot a lighter [shorter] bullet that I would see more throat erosion. What's the general thought on shooting shorter bullets in a wylde?
Are there other options?

Afternoon... while trying to decide on a caliber for my build, I was leaning towards the 223 wylde. However seeing how this has a longer throat to accommodate longer bullets, I'm concerned that if I want to shoot a lighter [shorter] bullet that I would see more throat erosion. What's the general thought on shooting shorter bullets in a wylde? Are there other options? The throat is between a 223 and 556. It is not "longer". I shoot "short" bullets all the time and haven't worn one out yet. Most of my 223's are 40's and 50's. I don't normally shoot anything heavier unless it is a long range match say 500-1000 yards. Options? Either a 556 or a SAAMI 223. Good luck finding a 223 that is not really a Wylde chamber which, by the way, may be any of at least six variations. Greg
